The year I discovered Sagmeister

Creative Mornings – Michael Bierut

Been a follower of SwissMiss for a while although never have sat through a complete viewing of an episode of her Creative Mornings talks that she organises. This talk by Michael Bierut (Pentagram) is fantastic, just very straight-forward, nothing pretentious, and honest. (Extra things I have from this talk is that Sagmeister is pronounced with a hard G rather than ‘Sage-meister as I first thought’!).

Fuel RCA

Fuel RCA seems a really useful resource from what I have seen so far. First time I have checked out their site although I have been following them on twitter (@FuelRCA) for a while. Their latest twitter post on ‘how to write a business plan‘ made me sit up and see for myself – their header from their site describes them better than I could…

Hand Over Fist

Saw these a while back on Design*Sponge… really great ‘pillows’ (or cushions!) designed by Hand Over Fist (based in Queens). You can buy them via their Etsy shop (for $50). Photo via Design*Sponge, shot by Pippa Drummond.

Cass Art

Quite interested to know more about the story and journey of Cass Art and Angus Hyland’s partnership ‘to shake up the traditional art materials retailer’ that has been grown over the last 10 years. Love the current designs for Cass Art’s own product range of cartridge paper. This range seen via Graphic Exchange, more details via Pentagram (another post worth checking out has the full range of sketchbooks and pads).

Rebekka Seale

Second post of the day, second of the year…

Having just sold a house that I lived in for 18 years, these touching illustrations would seem to me a lovely way to remember places you have lived in or do live in… Seen via Design*Sponge, the illustrations are by Rebekka Seale. They were a limited run, maybe Rebekka will do them again next xmas…anyhow for other illustrations you can buy, check out her Etsy shop.

Yan Nascimbene

A new year, a new term…

In lieu of making slight changes to the selection of content, here are some lovely illustrations via the Behance network to start the year, winter style… Illustrator is Yan Nascimbene. They remind me in sense of quality, and feel of Hergé’s illustrations for Tintin.
