In their own words…

“Get into the festive spirit of a crafty, homemade Christmas by kicking off December with Thelma and Louise. As well as your DIY craft kit there will be lots extra of crafty supplies to play with and extra kits to buy if one just isn’t enough! We’re also going to have a stall selling our wares, which will make perfect Christmas presents, even if we do say so ourselves…and unlimited tea, cake and mince pies.”

Debbie Smyth

Debbie Smyth is textile artist most identifiable by her statement thread drawings; these playful yet sophisticated contemporary artworks  are created by stretching a network of threads between accurately plotted pins. Her work beautifully blurs the boundaries between fine art drawings and textile art, flat and 3D work, illustration and embroidery, literally lifting the drawn line off the page in a series of “pin and thread” drawings.

Project featured is Fly Away Home: 8 metres wide by 3.5 metres high

Created for Stroud International Textile Festival and installed as part of the exhibition, “WordPlay” at the Museum in the Park, Stroud. Artists showcased tease the written word into tactile images, interpreting their observations with stitch and mark, challenging the viewer to seek fresh ways to see their world.”

Whale tissue holder

“Dispense your facial tissue in style with this lovely handcrafted wooden whale from Etsy shop Gnome Sweeeet Gnome. Each whale is completely hand cut, hand sanded, hand painted, and hand constructed which requires several hours of loving attention per whale. The wood is purchased from a local lumber store who buys directly from sustainable forestry companies in the United States.”
